It is recommended to bathe your cat/kitten weekly or bi-weekly in warm (never hot) water. This is due to Sphynx recessive "hairless" trait. Due to this trait the oils produced by sphynx remain on their bodies as they have no hair to properly filter such oils. You should use a very mild pet friendly tear free shampoo and avoid contact with your cat/kitten's eyes. Though shampoos may be labeled "tear free" it is still not recommended to get any shampoo directly into your cat/kitten's eyes. Do not forget to get in between your kittens' individual toes. If you feel your hairless friend isn't super dirty you can always just wipe them down with a microfiber rag and warm water or a cat wipe.
Ear Cleaning:
When cleaning your sphynx ears remember to clean the inside of their ears as they do not possess any hair within their ears to trap wax. You may clean their ears with a microfiber washcloth or a Q-Tip, both of which should have slight lubrication (water) to avoid anything abrasive making contact with their skin. Clean your washcloth or replace your Q-tip as needed until your sphynx's ears are cleaned. Please, be gentle during this process as you do not want to push water into their ears. This is a very uncomfortable feeling. Think of when you go swimming and water gets into your ear, yeah, not so fun!
Nail Trimming:
Your Kittens nails should be trimmed every 1-3 months. Trimming should be judged on how quickly your kittens' nails grow back. It is highly recommended to have a professional trim your kittens' nails as it is very easy to trim too much and injure your kitten. This can lead to a loss of blood as well as an infection.
Our kittens are currently using Tractor Supply Pine litter. This biodegradable litter is healthier than most litters on the market. Many litters are responsible for multiple diseases such as cancer in cats. It's ideal to clean your kittens' litter after every accident; however, if that is not possible, aim to clean their litter box every 2-7 days with seven (7) days being your max wait time. Liter should be changed out every 3 weeks- 4 weeks with this method.

Our kittens are fed Nulo (cat and kitten) dry food. Please, note sphynx have a very fast metabolism which gives them the doilty to eat mass amounts. Please, retrain from leaving food out as well as reeding them any table lood as they also have very sensitive stomachs. Cats are only required to eat ¼ cup two-three times daily to prevent diseases such as obesity and diabetes.
Wet food is not recommended after 8 weeks of age. Feeding your kitten this diet will cause teeth rot in the long run. If you choose to feed your kitten wet food, it's recommended that you do so as a small snack, but never to substitute for a meal. Wet food is typically used to wean kittens from their mom or to feed cats who have no teeth or sensitive/poor teeth. Treats should be given in small amounts. Please, follow the instructions on packaging to further prevent obesity, Catnip should be given to kittens six months and older.
Sphynx are not actually hairless. They possess a very thin coat of fur on their body. This is because their hairless trait is actually a recessive trait. This means they are not entirely hypoallergenic. People can be allergic to a series of things with animals. The most common allergies come from cat dandruff, cat oils, and in rare cases cat saliva.
Sphynx will also produce small amounts of fur on their body if they aren't taking in enough heat. These areas of fur temperatures. This is an adaptive mechanism they use to survive.
